Coronavirus has doomed and spiked many businesses and the effect might stay consistent in some areas after the end of pandemic. In regard to ongoing changes around the world, these are my predictions about the jobs that will be in demand:
Social distancing is our need for now but that might be our future too. We are getting used to buy everything online. Not that am I saying, it wasn’t happening before, but this might be our preference in the future, to shop at the comfort of home.
“On March 16, we announced Amazon would invest over $350 million globally to increase pay for our teams during the coronavirus pandemic and would hire an additional 100,000 people in full and part-time jobs across our Operations network” said Dave Clark, Senior Vice President of Amazon Worldwide Operations.
Not surprisingly, hospitals are in dire need of staff to handle overwhelming occupancy. We all have realized during this time that health comes first. Healthcare-related workers are in most demands with the highest level of job openings.
“Pharmaceutical companies view Covid-19 as a once-in-a-lifetime business opportunity,” said Gerald Posner, author of “Pharma: Greed, Lies, and the Poisoning of America.”
Supply Chain / Logistics
International shipping companies currently have to undergo a major hit due to the travel bans and closure of borders. But, considering the rising dependency of people on delivery system during the outbreak, we can expect a huge growth in business for supply chain and logistic companies. This sector is correlated with e-commerce business. Domestic delivery companies are already benefiting from the current situation of lock down and hiring staff because of shorthand.
Call Centers/Customer Service
Rise in e-commerce will demand more customer service centers that would create more employment opportunities for online customer care service.
Tech Companies / Digital Marketing
We are living in the age of technology, and we are fortunate to face these crises in this digital age that allows us to manage most of the things remotely. Mobile App Developers, Content Writers and Web Developers would be in high demand for new business and businesses that didn’t feel the needs for online presence earlier. With more focus on digital platforms, digital marketing agencies should definitely await a high demand in their business.
Digital Transformation of Businesses
COVID-19 has stimulated a global work-from-home experiment and it doesn’t mean this will be over once the pandemic is over. The experiment of working remotely has turned out cost saving for many businesses and this might be the way certain jobs/businesses would operate in the future. E-Events, E-Sports, E-Conferences, E-Healthcare Appointments, E-Schooling, E-Learning, E-Recruiting are just a few areas where the change could be seen already.
