On 15 July 2020, Maldives has reopened it’s borders to international tourism with enhanced precautionary measures against COVID-19.
After almost 4 months of flights suspension, Qatar Airways, became the first airline to resume operations to Velana International Airport (VIA) after Maldives reopened borders.
"The sun is shining again in the Maldives. Our borders are open for visitors once again and the first flight has just landed”, President Ibrahim Solih, Tweeted this message on his official account.

Know Before You Travel:
Before you arrive in Maldives, a prior confirmed booking at a registered tourist facility is mandatory.
Resorts, Hotels, and Guesthouses on uninhabited islands are open for booking from 15 July 2020.
Resorts, Hotels, and Guesthouses on inhabited islands will be open for booking starting for August 1, 2020.
Tourists must book the entire stay of their vacation at one facility. Staying at multiple resorts and hotels are not permitted during this period. However, exemptions shall be made for those requiring transit arrangements.
Tourists must check the operational status of the hotel or the resort directly with the facilities.
